The painting of SS Rhouma which was in the castle dining room was stolen on July 15th. ... ...
Police Scotland have put out a Facebook post about it.

The current care of Kinloch Castle and its contents by tax-payer funded NatureScot
is a national disgrace!

BOER WAR (1899-1901) BRASS SHELL CASE

Displayed on the mantelpiece in the Smoking Room the bullet case disappeared twenty plus years ago. It was described in the 1992 Inventory of Contents as a “Brass Shell Case.”
In the 1996 Inventory a later added hand written note records it as being “stolen.

Photographed by the author March 1998

From Page 9 Phillips Inventory and Valuation Report June 1996.
Hand written note added at later date.

In addition many books have disappeared from the library.
These have been identified by the author by comparing photographic
book by book research with the Library Book Inventory.

Regrettably my research highlighted numerous books now missing from those listed in the 1978 Inventory, particularly military works, for example all
1889-1896 editions of  Brigade of Guards Magazine
and a single volume of
A History of the Coldstream Guards.

Individual losses within sets spoil complete works, such as volumes 69 and 70 missing of Baily's Magazine

Although the 1978 Inventory itself records missing volumes, a particularly valuable
loss being the "Kinloch Library List 1904."

ONE OF THE MISSING BOOKS.
Frequently stolen for their illustrations which are ripped out and sold separately on the internet.

Destroyed by water from bathroom two floors above!!

The contents of the library and the castle
as a whole reflect the Era they represent,
they are a valuable educational resource
in their own right.
