Executed in 1859 the statues are the work of  leading British portrait sculptor, 
Matthew Noble, 1817-1876.

The bronze statue (above)  stands on a tall, stepped solid granite pedestal  
identical to the one that stood in Mount Road, Madras, by sculptor Matthew Noble.
